Aid Workers, Volunteers and Humanitarians
This site was developed to enable volunteers, expats, development/aid workers, travelers and global humanitarians to access supportive, empowerment-based counseling from any corner of the globe.
Transitioning to a new environment, adjusting to a new culture and working in the face of human suffering or extreme poverty can be both rewarding and overwhelming. Dealing with complicated bureaucracies and difficult organizational cultures can make things even more stressful. Depression, Anxiety, and Vicarious Trauma are issues that many humanitarians and aid-workers face.
It is not uncommon to begin asking BIG questions like, "Why did I come here?", "Am I really making a difference?", "Why isn't everyone outraged by this?", "Where do I belong?".
This is difficult work and let's face it - none of us are exempt from the highs and lows of the human experience. The Global Wellness Center offers a valuable opportunity to nurture your own wellness and to restore balance in your life so that you can actively pursue your personal and professional goals.
Utilizing video conferencing and email, the Global Wellness Center makes it possible to have weekly counseling sessions with a licensed psychotherapist from anywhere in the world.
